Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence Records, 1977-1999. 


Records of the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1977-1999, a membership organization of battered women, domestic abuse programs, and individuals committed to ending domestic violence. Founded as the Wisconsin Coalition Against Woman Abuse, it later became affiliated with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and, in 1986, changed its name to the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The collection includes interviews with incarcerated women who were survivors of domestic abuse, training materials to educate law enforcement personnel and volunteers about domestic abuse, state and national conference materials, and other records reflecting the activities of the organization.


Wisconsin Home for Women (Taycheedah Prison) Case Files, 1921-1954. 


Records on women who were discharged from 1921 to 1954 from the Wisconsin Home for Women and its predecessor institutions at Taycheedah, the Wisconsin Industrial Home for Women and the Wisconsin Prison for Women. The files typically include a summary face sheet, medical and psychiatric examination records, photographs, and various administrative records relating to confinement, release on parole, and discharge.


Wisconsin State Prison Case Files, 1933-1940. 


Institutional records of men who entered the Wisconsin State Prison between January 1933 and December 1940. Files typically include a summary face sheet, record of previous offenses, medical and psychiatric examination records, photographs, and various administrative records relating to confinement, parole, and discharge. This is a sample of cases from file number 20,852 to 26,075. Every tenth file was retained, beginning with a randomly chosen number.


Wisconsin State Reformatory Case Files, 1927-1940. 


Institutional case files of men and boys between the ages of 16 to 30 who were admitted to the Wisconsin State Reformatory between October 1927 and December 1940. Files typically include a summary admission record, case history, medical records, psychiatric records, correspondence, and administrative records relating to confinement, parole, and discharge. The files were weeded by the Division of Corrections. This series is a 10% sample from the Reformatory's files for case numbers 6,235 to 11,632. Every tenth file, beginning with a randomly selected number, was retained.
