Borrowing

If you are a UW-Green Bay student, faculty, or staff member, your UW-Green Bay ID is your library card; please bring it with you to check out materials. If you are from another UW school or are a Wisconsin resident, please bring your UW ID or NEW ERA card to the 3rd floor desk to check out materials. For more information on these forms of ID, see Services for Visitors page.

For our full circulation policy, please see our policy document.

Borrower’s Responsibilities

  • Borrowers are responsible for items checked out to them.
  • Borrowers are responsible for renewing or returning items by their due date.
  • Borrowers who lose or damage items will be responsible for overdue and replacement fees

Fines & Overdue Fees

Item due notices are sent out by email the day the item is due. If an item is returned late or damaged, there may be replacement costs, processing charges, and/or overdue fees associated with it. Students, faculty and staff with fines of $200 or more will be blocked from further check out privileges. Community patrons are blocked at $5 of fines.

Item type Overdue charge Replacement cost
Books (General collection) N/A $100
Equipment, video games and consoles $5 per day, maximum of $15 Actual cost of item
Board games, dice, and RPGs $5 per day, maximum of $15 Actual cost of item
Reserves – 1, 3, 7, and 28 day $5 per day, maximum of $15 $100
Reserves – 3 hour $5 per day, maximum of $15 $100

Items are considered lost when they are 28 days overdue. At that point, the borrower will be charged the replacement cost. If the item is returned within 28 days of being marked lost, the replacement cost will be waived, but overdue fines will still apply.

Fine Appeal

You may submit a fine appeal within 28 calendar days from the fine notice using the form linked below. Notices are sent to your UW-Green Bay email address. Appeals will be answered within two weeks from the date submitted. Decisions are based on a statement provided by the patron, the patron’s library record, previous appeals made by the patron, the total amount due on the account, and any other relevant information. It is very important to be specific with details of the appeal. All reasonable concerns related to library charges will be considered.

The following are NOT reasons on which an appeal may be based:

  • Lack of understanding of library circulation policies
  • Non-receipt of notice
  • Forgetting due dates
  • Disagreement with the library fine/fee structure
  • Inability to pay fines/fees
  • Materials loaned to a third party
  • Materials returned to the wrong library
  • Being out of town

The decision made by the library is final and binding. If you wish to appeal a library fine, fill out the online Library Fines Appeal form.
