Title: Papers, 1910-1949
Summary: Correspondence, diaries, and miscellaneous papers of a Red Cross, Army, and later public health nurse from Eagle, Wisconsin. Most of the correspondence deals with her nursing career with the Red Cross in Kiev, Russia, in 1915, and with American military hospitals in Vittel and Compeigne, France, 1917-1919. Two diaries cover her return trip from Russia via the Trans-Siberia Railway in the fall of 1915 and her service in France beginning with her voyage to Le Havre from New York in October, 1917, and ending in September, 1918. The diary includes a first-hand account of a Zeppelin alert at Le Havre.

Title: Translated account of an emigrant voyage, 1854
Summary: A vivid, day-by-day, 37-page typewritten account, translated by Herman Bottema in February 1928, by Remeeus of the voyage he and his family took from the Netherlands to their new home in Milwaukee, Wis. in 1854. Also included is a brief list of births, marriages, and deaths in the Remeeus family (1765-1861).

Title: Log book, 1903
Summary: A log book kept by Preston ("Pick") Reynolds of a canoe trip he made with three other Madison, Wis. boys in 1903. The trip began in what is now Wisconsin Dells and proceeded down the Wisconsin River to the Mississippi as far as Rock Island, Ill., and then started up the Rock River. The trip was supposed to continue up the Rock and Yahara Rivers to Madison. Instead, the "4 River Rovers" completed the trip by train from Coloma, Ill. Reynold's companions included "Pucks" Anderson, "Chub" Fowler, and Sid Jackson (later a founder of the Jackson Clinic in Madison). In addition to colorful descriptions of their adventures, Reynolds has illustrated the volume with many pen and ink and wash drawings.

Title: F. W. and Emma Wells diaries, 1884-1893, 1914
Summary: Diaries of F. W. and Emma Wells of Oakfield, Wisconsin. Dating 1884-1893, F. W.'s daily entries center on his work as an agent for the La Belle Wagon Works Co. of Fond du Lac, Wis., and recount his experiences traveling through his sales territory including Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska. Entries also include names of his customers, and note travel expenses incurred. Emma's diary entitled "My Trip Abroad" describes the family's tour through Europe in 1914 focusing on itinerary, sightseeing activities, and hotel accommodations. Her last two entries describe crowding in trains and ships as people attempted to leave Paris before World War I.

Title: Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Collection, 1960-1996
Summary: Personal papers of 137 Wisconsin men and women who served in the armed forces during the Vietnam War and which were collected as part of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin's "Voices of the Wisconsin Past" publication project. Selections from the collection have been published as "Voices from Vietnam." The collection includes letters, diaries, reminiscences, maps, military memorabilia, tape-recorded messages, photographs, and videotapes which present a wide range of experiences and a broad sampling of opinions and attitudes from a first-person perspective.
The materials for Michael Jeffords and Darrel Lulling especially contain descriptions of Vietnam.
